“But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, ‘It is a ghost!’ and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.’ And Peter answered him, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.”
— Matthew 14:26-29
Like the disciples in the boat, we at Granada Hills Community Church understand what it’s like to toil as we are tossed about by the storms of life. We are just a group of ordinary people who struggle daily with sin, who don’t always know what to do or say, and who don’t always have it together.
But, also like the disciples in the boat, we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We were all sinners, guilty of offending a holy God, yet unable to remove that guilt through our own efforts and destined for eternal damnation in hell. But we have come to believe in the Good News that, because of His great love for sinners, God gave His only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for sin so that whoever believes in Him may be saved from eternal destruction and receive everlasting life. And anyone who turns from his or her sins and trusts in Jesus Christ can receive that same hope! Now, when we are afraid, our Lord encourages us to take heart. When we need reassurance, He lets us know He is there. We believe that we can do amazing things, not because we are special in any way, but because He is amazing who calls us to come! In obedience to Him, we are committed to being a friendly, loving family that upholds the truth of the Bible and lives to honor God in all that we think, say, and do.
Granada Hills Community Church is:
Our church is a place where anyone can feel at home. We’re made up of all kinds of people, from all ethnic backgrounds and all walks of life. As our pastor likes to say: “We are a slice of what heaven will be like!”
We are a local, community-based church that seeks to reach out to our neighbors as a focal point of ministry and in coordination with other ministry partners who serve our local community.
As a member church in the Missionary Church Western Region, we are active in sending and supporting missionaries to spread the gospel both in foreign countries and elsewhere in the United States.
